To: Senator Scott Brown December 23, 2010
Dear Senator Brown:
This is to let you know of my extreme disappointment for your vote in favor of the START Treaty. Instead of allowing time for due consideration with the new Congress you allowed the Obama administration to again rush and ram through legislation under a false banner of end of year urgency...and you fell for it.
Worse, by your vote you allowed Russia to dictate the terms on a treaty that is detrimental to the safety and security of the United States. While we reduce our nuclear capability, Russia has been given an opportunity to increase their strength against us. Any concessions by them are meaningless, since as history has proven...they always cheat and renege on their agreements.
The worst part of this so called "Treaty" is the fact that we have given up our right to defend ourselves!! If nothing else was evident to you about how bad this Treaty is, all logic and common sense are absent on your part... how in the world could you EVER vote to give up our right to self defense?!
By your voting record you are fast becoming the Olympia Snowe of Massachusetts. All of us who worked so hard to get you elected have effectively been spit upon. We will remember you at re-election time.

Truth & Fact: Obamacare a Disaster for Seniors
An Associated Press article was recently carried in newspapers throughout the country on a back page: "Congress postpones cuts to doctors' Medicare payments". This SHOULD have been a front page article since it gets right to the heart of the affect of Obamacare on seniors. It should not be overlooked that in the new national healthcare plan $1/2 trillion will be taken out of Medicare. Among other things what this means is that doctors will receive a 23% pay cut for Medicare expenses. There is little doubt that doctors, in turn, will start refusing new Medicare patients (seniors), and some may eliminate existing ones.
From the start, for those who have theirs eyes, ears, and minds wide open, the path has been as clear as can be. It strains credulity to believe otherwise and not look at the facts. From the very beginning, a chief advisor to President Obama on healthcare, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, is ON RECORD saying many times that healthcare should be rationed in favor of those "most productive in society". This specifically excludes seniors. This has been followed by Obama, himself, in answer to questions on ABC, where he said that "maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller." (In reference to the elderly). In another instance he said, "I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance". All of this is on record and shows the mind set in regard to healthcare for seniors with respect to Obamacare. In effect all of this says...Healthcare for seniors is very expensive, decisions need to be made (by some group), It might be better to give the senior a painkiller than expensive treatment. This is the ONLY conclusion that can be drawn from the facts by any informed and intelligent person. Further, it can be clearly concluded that seniors are increasingly going to find it difficult to even get a doctor to see them!
Yet there is still further proof on the mind set behind Obamacare in regard to seniors.
Not known by many, even those in Congress who voted for it, H.R. 1 (the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, even more commonly known as the Stimulus Bill) contains a whopping $1.1 billion to fund the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (An obfuscatory title, wouldn't you say?) The Council is the brain child of former Health and Human Services Secretary Nominee Tom Daschle. Betsy McCaughey, former Lieutenant governor of New York, wrote in detail about the Council's purpose, that effectively has the goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions, and more. Call this "Council" , this panel, what you will, but if one looks thoroughly and factually into it, there is little question that it is detrimental to seniors...by design! By the way, who do you think is on this "Council"? Ezekiel Emanuel, so you can see right away the thinking that will be prevalent.
Further evidence behind the mind set behind Obamacare was shown by Cass Sunstein, Obama's Regulatory Czar, who wrote in a New York Times op-ed that healthcare rationing (for people) is both moral and good public policy. He believes "government has to lead you by the nose in every facet of life". Sunstein believes that all of your rights exist only because the federal government allows you to have them.
Still further, David Berwick, Obama's appointee to head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who will be overseeing implementation of America’s new government-run health care told the Biotechnology Journal in 2009, "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care; the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open". Earlier he had lamented that America’s current health system was designed to respond to the needs of individual patients, and he said a new health system instead should require patients to prove the value of proposed treatment. Still more he stated costs must be contained, so decisions are made through a "comparative effectiveness" formula, which compares various treatments versus benefits the patient receives. If a treatment costs more than the "quality adjusted life years" merit, treatment is denied. Is there any doubt whatsoever that this will be extremely detrimental to seniors and their healthcare?
There is overwhelming proof, based upon facts that the new government-run health care will be both detrimental and discriminatory against seniors. This is not the America we once knew. These truths should be on the front page of every newspaper in the country.
