USA Debt Addiction Must Stop

The United States is ALREADY bankrupt and needs to face up to reality. The word "trillion" has been mentioned so frequently that people have lost recognition of the enormity of it. Just try to write down the number "1 trillion" and the number of zeros is mind boggling. The reality is that we are $14.5 trillion in (reported) debt. With interest and the current year's budget deficit we will be over $16.6 trillion overnight. Within a couple of years we will be well OVER $20 trillion in debt. Further realities are that our total debt is $55 trillion, and our total unfunded liabilities are a whopping $115 trillion. The United States is on the brink of economic collapse and has almost reached the point of no return. Successive administrations in Washington and both major parties are responsible for this.

Yet those in Washington and many so called "experts" are warning of the chaos that will be caused if we don't raise the debt ceiling. These are code words for "keep spending" with only token and ineffective attempts to deal with our massive debt. The only thing that will right America economically is to call a screeching halt to spending starting with NOT raising the debt ceiling. We need to accept the deserved crisis NOW rather than later dealing with a total collapse of America and leaving that as a legacy to our children and grandchildren.

Those in Washington, along with the "experts" should stop threatening the American people and start managing the economy. This includes an immediate halt to the massive spending, immediately working toward balanced budgets, supporting business, and bringing back manufacturing to America, our core strengths as a nation. It also includes NOT raising taxes to an already overburdened and struggling populace that will effectively only make our economy worse.

If we have to go through some pain, BRING IT ON! Let's do it now. As far as Moody and all that business of "lowering our rating", our rating should ALREADY be low, look at the numbers above! We deserve any consequences that a low rating brings. Maybe this will shock us back into reality.

Like many Americans I am hopping mad. I would rather go through any pain necessary NOW, rather than the total collapse of America later. Those in Washington need to start thinking about the future of our country...and our children, and our grandchildren.

For once, Washington needs to do what is right, face reality, and use common sense.
