It is a major error and missed opportunity not to let the people of Iran know we support their freedom. This is a window of opportunity that we might not get again. All we have to do is let them know that we support their right to a fair election, and most importantly their freedom. The United States has always been a beacon of freedom and democracy throughout the world, but that beacon seems to have faded when it comes to the people of Iran. They are looking to us, not for an military support, not for financial support, not for any other type of support other that our words...that we support their freedom. The weight of these words from the United States is immense, beyond what people realize.
Yet we seem to be operating, not for what is right, but out of fear. Fear that they may do something against us in Iraq or Afghanistan. Is that what the United States has come to and now what we are about? Fear of a consequence rather than doing what is right? I honestly can't remember any time in our history where we have taken that sort of stance.
Where is our leadership in Washington on this?
